On this day we will go beyond the ABC mission statement, beyond the veil of success, and dive deep into the inner workings of the program and the house through the POV of the Alumni. How can we further improve this unique system that has been nurturing BIPOC young men and women in the New Canaan and Fairfield county communities? This is a chance to listen, judgement free and shame free.

On this day we will come to understand the individual experiences of attending New Canaan High School as an ABC scholar; everything from classes, to extra-curricular activities, to the predominantly white social culture. How do we increase safe spaces within the high school where BIPOC students can be authentic? This is a chance to reckon, working out the balance of what was helpful and what needs to adjust.

On this day we will converse with those considered to be allies and friends, dissecting what those two words mean for the scholars and for the New Canaan community. Can we identify what actions are needed from allies and friends to adequately integrate scholars into the community? This is a chance to heal, to provide clarity, to challenge and to thank.
